Why TCF matters

Built for publishers,
advertisers, and ad-tech

The Transparency and Consent Framework is the global standard developed by IAB Europe. It lets publishers communicate user consent to ad vendors in a single, structured signal — preserving ad revenue while staying compliant.

Benefit 01

Automatic consent application

The CMP automatically determines which consent signal applies to each visitor — based on jurisdiction, vendor list, and the purposes you've configured. Merchants select preferred vendors; the banner displays the right way, first time.

Benefit 02

Full ad-tech interoperability

Compatible with Google Ad Manager, Amazon DSP, Criteo, The Trade Desk, and every major SSP, DSP, and ad-tech vendor that supports the IAB TCF — over 1,200 registered vendors total.

Benefit 03

Industry-leading opt-in rates

Consentik's banner UX is optimized for clarity and trust. Sites running it see some of the highest consent rates in the industry — preserving visitor data access and downstream monetization.

11 Standard purposes

The standard data-use purposes, fully supported

IAB TCF v2.2 defines 11 distinct purposes that vendors may request consent for. Consentik supports the full catalog — visitors see exactly which purposes each vendor needs, and grant or decline per-purpose.

Questions, answered

Common questions about
IAB TCF v2.2

If you can't find what you need, our support team is one click away.

What is the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework?
The TCF is a global standard developed by IAB Europe to help websites, apps, and ad-tech vendors share consent signals in a structured, interoperable way. It encodes a visitor's consent for specific purposes (1–11) and vendors into a single compact string — the "TC string" — that every TCF-compliant vendor can read.
What does "CMP ID 451" mean?
451 is Consentik's official Consent Management Platform identifier with IAB Europe. It appears inside every TC string we generate, allowing ad vendors and auditors to verify that the consent signal came from an IAB-registered CMP — a baseline requirement for participating in the Open RTB / IAB ecosystem.
Do I need IAB TCF if I already have GDPR & Google Consent Mode V2?
GDPR and Google Consent Mode V2 cover what consent the visitor has given. IAB TCF is what makes that consent readable by every other ad vendor — Amazon DSP, Criteo, The Trade Desk, and over 1,200 registered partners. If your site runs IAB-compliant ads or sells inventory through programmatic exchanges, you need TCF.
Which ad vendors are supported?
Every vendor on the IAB Global Vendor List (GVL) — currently over 1,200 — including Google Ad Manager, Amazon Publisher Services, Criteo, The Trade Desk, Magnite, PubMatic, Index Exchange, and Xandr. The vendor list updates automatically inside Consentik when IAB publishes a new GVL revision.
Will turning on TCF reduce my ad revenue?
The opposite — without TCF, IAB-compliant vendors treat traffic from your site as non-consented by default, which suppresses bid prices and fill rates. Consentik's TCF banner is optimized for clarity, producing some of the highest opt-in rates in the industry. Most sites see ad revenue increase after enabling TCF, not decrease.
What's the difference between TCF v2.2 and the latest version?
TCF v2.2 introduces enhanced features to strengthen user privacy, including more granular consent options and improved transparency about how vendors use data. Consentik implements the full TCF v2.2 specification — existing configurations work automatically with no merchant action required.
